Celebrating Life

Tim Dowdell M Soc Sci Humanist Celebrant. Derbyshire
Hello, my name is Tim Dowdell I am a Humanist Celebrant working in Derbyshire.
Humanist ceremonies are available through a network of celebrants, like me, who are trained and accredited by the British Humanist Association.
Increasingly people are seeking a humanist ceremony to mark those important moments in life. Most requests are for me to conduct funeral ceremonies, to celebrate weddings, civil partnerships and baby namings. But a ceremony may also be required to celebrate anniversaries, memorials and adoptions as well.
Each ceremony is especially designed to give meaning and lend a certain dignity to the occasion. While reflecting your belief in humanity, it will respect the values of others, amongst family and friends who may have a religious conviction.
The end result is a ceremony which is personal to you and your family.
About your ceremany
The aim is to produce a Humanist ceremony which is tailored to your requirements. Within a framework of Humanist values it will reflect, as far as possible, your wishes on the day. The ceremony is designed with your active involvement. This takes the form of personal consultations with you and other family representatives of your choice. The ceremony can be as long or short as you wish; it can be conducted at a place of your choosing; it will usually include a selection of music and readings, chosen by you. Naturally part of my role is to advise, if you wish. It really is up to you!
On the day, your active participation is encouraged, along with that of family and friends. You may choose to read a poem or words of your own. Alternatively I could read them on your behalf. One of my roles is to ensure everything goes smoothly and according to plan.
